Samsung Reimagines Air Conditioner Design
with New Triangle Design

Exclusive design and engineering delivers powerful cooling performance, energy efficiency and cleaner air quality

BALI, Indonesia, February 18, 2014 – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., today announced the launch of the new Samsung Air Conditioner (AR7000) engineered to deliver exceptional cooling, comfort and hygienic benefits with a striking triangular design. This innovative design allows for a wider inlet, wider outlet and bigger fans while maintaining a compact exterior profile to enhance the overall air conditioning experience.

Its unique triangular design delivers improved performance by circulating cool air faster, farther and wider[1] while Samsung’s Digital Inverter Technology provides significantly greater energy efficiency[2]. In addition, the Virus Doctor and Easy Filter eliminate dust, contaminants, allergens, bacteria and viruses[3].

“R&D and design play a key role in how we develop our products as we’re always focused on improving our customers’ day to day experience with technology,” said Mr. Rajeev Bhutani, Director – Sales Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics, India. “We’re especially proud when we are able to create products that address future needs, those that the consumer isn’t even fully aware of, such as what we have been able to achieve with this new air conditioner. The unique design and cooling capabilities bring the ultimate in comfort to our customers, while we’ve embedded smart features to ensure it’s a convenient smart appliance for years to come. That’s the definition of true innovation.”

Design that Changes the Flow
Designed to be exceptionally efficient, its uniquely triangular design has a wider inlet, wider outlet and a bigger fan to ensure that air is cooled and expelled faster (26%), farther (14m meters) and wider (2 x wider)[4] – reaching every corner of a room.

Digital Inverter Technology
The new air conditioner features an energy-efficient Digital Inverter Technology. It can maintain the desired temperature without frequently shutting off and on, so it consumes less energy. The Digital Inverter Technology helps users to stay cool for long periods of time, while using the minimum amount of energy – of up to 60% less electricity than conventional air conditioners.

Also, when the Fast Cool mode is enabled, the air conditioner is able to cool any room quickly. It then automatically changes the mode to Comfort Cool to maintain the desired temperature. Users won’t feel cold and don’t have to keep manually changing the settings or turning the air conditioner on and off.

Capacity Control for Effective Use of Energy
Energy efficiency is a key purchasing decision for consumers. The Samsung Air Conditioner’s Single User mode uses less compressor capacity, reducing power consumption[5], while still providing a cool and comfortable environment. This ensures that users won’t have to worry about the electricity bill even as the only person in a room.

Air Quality Designed for the Family
The new Samsung Air Conditioner features Samsung’s exclusive Virus Doctor that keeps families safe and comfortable through innovative air purifying technology, which neutralizes harmful contaminants in the air. Virus Doctor has received various accolades including a 2010 AHR Expo Innovation Award in the indoor air-quality category, a 1st Air Day Minister of the Environmental Award, and the Jang Young Sil Award.

Virus Doctor* and Easy Filter* eliminates dust, dangerous airborne contaminants and allergens, as well as bacteria and viruses, including the Influenza A and Corona viruses – firstly using a filter and secondly with Virus Doctor. The Easy Filter is located outside, on the top, for easy maintenance.
.

Stylish Appearance
The pure Crystal Gloss™ finish and uniquely curved design of the Samsung Air Conditioner deliver a premium look. Like aerodynamic, high performance sports cars, every aspect of its streamlined body is encased in dual-injected, transparent material for an elegant finish that blends seamlessly into any modern household.

Smart Monitoring for Maximum Convenience
The Smart Installation is a self-diagnosis feature that ensures the air conditioner is installed perfectly by the service engineer. It automatically checks for installation faults that can cause problems when using the air conditioner.

At the 2014 Samsung Forum, Samsung Introduces Innovative Printing Solutions and advanced NFC Printers for Delivering the Ultimate Seamless Business Experience

New solutions include powerful line-up of printers that combine NFC and Wi-Fi Direct technologies, Business Core Printing Solutions that enable greater efficiencies for small- and medium-sized businesses and a web-based XOA open platform tool to expand the number of printer devices compatible with various B2B solutions

BALI, Indonesia – February 19, 2014 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, today introduced new printing solutions that will push the boundaries of innovation in the printing industry at Samsung Forum held in Bali, Indonesia.

“In 2013, Samsung demonstrated its leadership in advanced mobile printing technologies by releasing the world’s very first NFC printer, the Xpress C460 Series. In 2014 and beyond, the company will continue to focus on providing easy, user-oriented technologies,” said Mr. Sameer Garde, Country Head – Enterprise Business, Samsung Electronics, India. “Today, we are expanding our NFC lineup to include high speed printers that support professional and business users. Samsung will continue to provide mobile printing solutions to meet our consumers’ needs.”

Samsung, a leader in integrated printing software, also unveiled innovative solutions specifically catered to small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across different industries. These include server-free Business Core Printing Solutions.

Additionally, Samsung’s latest set of printing services, including Samsung’s ‘XOA (eXtensible Open platform Architecture)’ web-based open platform tool, provide customized solutions for distinct verticals. Further, the company today reiterated its commitment to operating alliance programs for global ISVs, Independent Software Vendor, partners such as Ringdale and Equitrac.

Easy On-the-Go Printing with Samsung’s Xpress Series

For on-the-go printing that combines NFC and Wi-Fi Direct technologies, Samsung unveiled its new mono laser printer Xpress M2885 series and color laser printer Xpress C1860 series. These printers enable easy and convenient mobile printing for SMB users with outstanding print speeds: 28 pages per minute on mono laser printers and 18 pages per minute on color laser printers.

Both of Samsung’s new printer series also feature NFC and Wi-Fi Direct technologies that allow users to simply tap their smartphones on the printer to easily and securely print pictures, documents, e-mails and web content.

The Xpress series support mobile printing via Samsung’s mobile print app, which can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Samsung Galaxy users can also print directly from their devices with the natured ‘print’ button. Further, users can print on the Xpress series – whatever they want, wherever they are – with Google Cloud Print.

Enhanced Efficiency with Customized Printing Solutions for SMBs

Samsung understands that SMBs need customizable workflow solutions that meet specific document-handling needs, all while maintaining high security and productivity. Because SMBs typically lack the scale of resources available to enterprise businesses, easy management solutions that fit tight budgets is of utmost importance.

To meet these needs for SMBs, Samsung introduced its Business Core™ Printing Solutions, BCPS, which provide the essential suite of offerings to create a seamless workflow experience. BCPS is embedded on Samsung printers and MFPs thus it does not need separate server. Thanks to its serverless printing solutions, small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) can reduce IT resource including IT management personnel and server purchasing cost. Small and medium sized businesses can increase workplace efficiency through easy-to-use, serverless printing.

Included in the Business Core Printing Solutions offering are two packages, an Output Management Pack and a Document Management Pack that contain five key solutions for heightened productivity, cost-efficiency, security, ease of use and simplified maintenance tailored to SMBs.

Expansion of Compatible Devices via a Web-Based XOA Platform

In 2010, Samsung Electronics released XOA Embedded, a flexible and powerful open platform for running business solutions on printers and MFPs. However, the platform could only be applied to high-end products, such as A3 copiers, because it required high hardware specifications.

To address this limitation, Samsung introduced the XOA Web platform, which does not need high hardware specifications because it is based on a web-based server. The platform is thereby compatible with a variety of devices from low-end A4 MFPs to high-end A3 copiers to run business solutions.

Small-and medium-sized business customers can now enjoy the benefits enhanced productivity, security and device management solutions according to their needs in addition to saving cost. Additionally ISVs, resellers and dealers can offer customer-oriented solutions running on smaller A4 devices that better meet their customers’ needs.

NEW GSMA REPORT REVEALS HOW SPECTRUM LICENCE UNCERTAINTY JEOPARDISES MOBILE SERVICES IN LATIN AMERICA

Greater Certainty and Longevity for Spectrum Licensing is Vital for Ongoing Investment in Mobile Networks Across the Region
19 February 2014, London: The GSMA today released findings of a new report, “Licence Renewal in Latin America”, which highlights the climate of uncertainty surrounding the continuity of spectrum licences for many countries in the region. The study finds that such uncertainty can drive mobile operators to reduce their capital expenditure by as much as 67 per cent, which in turn could significantly delay the deployment of new mobile services.
“It is vital that governments and regulators in Latin America communicate a clear process for the renewal of spectrum licences,” said Tom Phillips, Chief Regulatory Officer, GSMA said. “Licence renewal terms for existing spectrum holders should be agreed at least three to four years before a licence expires, in order for operators to ensure ongoing investment in the latest mobile services.”
A number of the original 2G spectrum licences, acquired in the 1990s, are due to expire within the next five years in many Latin American countries; namely Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Uruguay and, most urgently, Colombia. As mobile operators are unable to assume they will have the ability to renew their licence at the end of its term, they may be compelled to progressively reduce investment in their networks. The GSMA’s new report illustrates the extent to which this lack of certainty can impact operators’ investment plans.
Knock-on Effect of Expiry of Spectrum Licences for Mobile
The loss of access rights to mobile spectrum also impacts consumers, in terms of potential price increases, a reduction in the quality of their mobile services or, in the extreme, a loss of service altogether. This situation creates challenges for governments, as it can impact the achievement of their own ICT goals and create an unstable market structure.
Urgent Call to Clarify the Licence Renewal Process
The situation for Colombian mobile operators Claro and Movistar is particularly critical as their licences will expire on 31 March 2014 and the terms and conditions for renewal are not yet clear. The report identifies best practice that governments should consider when renewing spectrum licences, including a collaborative and consultative approach with operators. Any potential new conditions should be carefully reviewed in order to determine their economic cost, which should be factored into the valuation of spectrum at the time of licence renewal.
“Spectrum re-licensing must be timely and carried out in consultation with the mobile industry and in an open and transparent way,” continued Phillips. “The cost of renewing spectrum usage rights should be based on achieving the best outcome for society - one which maximises the economic and social benefits of the mobile industry - rather than on maximising short-term revenue for government.”
The GSMA is calling for greater clarity on the following:
  • Spectrum Valuation: Price estimates for licence renewal should take account of changing market conditions faced by the mobile industry, including increased market saturation, commoditisation of basic services and the resulting pressure on margins and industry profitability;
  • Renewal Method: Governments and regulators should define clear objectives and a transparent process well ahead of licence expiry and include an early indication of the likelihood of renewal or reassignment of the allocated spectrum;
  • Conditions: Any new conditions imposed upon mobile operators as part of the spectrum licence renewal process, such as coverage and quality of service obligations, should be feasible and have a clear economic valuation so all stakeholders understand the level of obligations these conditions involve;
  • Payment: The method used for setting licence payments and fees needs to be based on objective criteria such as the frequency, bandwidth and potential commercial use of the spectrum under consideration;
  • Spectrum Caps: Any limitations placed on spectrum holdings should be updated according to any increased demand and the availability of other spectrum bands; and
  • Licence Duration: Longer licences are necessary to stimulate continuous investment in new technology and upgrades to existing network infrastructure. Shorter licence terms can discourage new investment and reduce the likelihood of operators launching new and innovative services.
“Spectrum licences should be granted for a minimum of 15 to 20 years to give investors sufficient time to plan their long-term investments and business strategies,” stated Phillips. “Failure to effectively manage the spectrum licence renewal process can delay investment in new services. This could have serious consequences for their businesses and potentially jeopardise mobile services for millions of consumers.”

Mobile Review: Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082: 8 MP Camera with 1.2 MHz is a Good Deal

Rated 4.0 out of 5
8 MP Camera with 1.2 MHz is a Good Deal

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-19082 comes with 8 megapixels of primary or rear camera and 2 megapixels of front or secondary camera. I have got a perception by now that the relationship between the price of a smart phone and its rear camera is ik = 1 megapixel roughly. It comes with Android v 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Good part is the camera - 8 megapixels and the 1.2 GHz dual core processor.

Low Processor Good Camera

Samsung Galaxy Ace GT - S5830 is an 800 MHz, 5 megapixels with 2x optical and 2x digital zoom smart phone that comes within 7k range. Looking at price, 800 MHz seems to be towards lower side as far as processing speed is concerned that is the most important factor in any smart phone. On the other side 5 megapixels camera with 2x feature is the good part of this phone.

One has to think about the exact requirements that one expects from this device before taking a decision to buy it.

An Excellent Device For Dynamic Shooting Assignments

Arachnopod is ideally a fantastic device for versatile and dynamic kind of videography assignments. It is usually the first choice of videographers who make short films, documentaries and movies requiring heavy movement, different body postures, filming on the go, capturing videos while moving at a speed and capturing close movements of small sized living beings.

Mobile Micro Review: Samsung Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562: Processor, Camera and Operating System On a Lower Side

Processor, Camera and Operating System On a Lower Side

Samsung Galaxy S Duos GT - S7562 comes with a 1 GHz processor ( slightly on the downside as compared to its price range ) and 5 megapixels of rear ( or primary ) camera. The camera again, according to me, is on a little downside in comparison to its price. It comes with Google Android v 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
